Chapter 63: [Employee of the Month]

"Yeah, but the return on investment should be quite substantial. Most of what she will be dropping won\'t be useful to her. Clubs, maces, swords, resources for professions and more. I\'m not even sure what the others do with those drops, maybe keep them in their stash. Besides that, it all goes to waste unless they have a recycler."

A recycler can be bought on the fifth shop tier.

"I can\'t even begin to imagine how much is required to unlock that tier. Just this last one was what, 1000? I can\'t even buy anything in there with what I have left. Hopefully Aleesia brings back useful things to recycle."

Mori got up, stretching.

Mori had sent Aleesia away, hoping she would progress a bit.

He was about to do the same.

Aura was leagues ahead of him days ago, he had still only beaten [0-1].

After giving Aleesia the bow, he asked her to go and get done with the next floor, which she reluctantly did, hours ago now.

"Alright, time to go..." said Mori.

He opened the [Dungeon] tab, again.

[Aleesia is requesting an invite to your room.]

"What? Already?"

Mori invited her.

He heard her walking from the next room, quickly making her way toward him.

Did she even clear the floor, or just waited around scared?

She finally appeared, a smile on her face.

"What happened?" asked Mori. "Did you clear [0-1]?" he asked.

"No..."

"What? Seriously?!-"

"I\'ve cleared up to [0-5]," she brightly said.

What?

Ohoh.

"You\'re kidding?" he asked.

"I\'m pretty good with a bow, and now that I have one, it changes everything! I will require more arrows, some of them are now quite dull," she said, approaching.

She dropped on the floor the loot she got from the rooms.

"I know you like torches, so I took them as well."

A nice pile of loot laid before Mori.

"But it\'s only been hours..."

"The progression curve isn\'t that steep it seems. You\'ll manage, I\'m sure. You must also have your favored weapon unlocked now, right?"

Mori\'s expression was blank.

That girl is... stronger than me, right now? Really? The one that moments ago was closing her eyes while swinging a dagger?

"No, I\'d need a magic-scaling weapon," finally answered Mori.

"Oh, I\'ll keep an eye out! I just came to let you know how it was going, I\'ll go back to it! Good luck!"

"Good luck," responded Mori.

He watched as she opened up her own system screen, disappearing before his eyes again.

He took everything she dropped on the floor, bringing it to the recycler and slowly recycling everything.

I\'m surprised you aren\'t more frustrated.

Mori didn\'t bother turning around, he was almost halfway through the pile of items she had dropped.

"The only reason I\'m frustrated is because I was lucky to get a sovereign class. I didn\'t earn anything, I just started from a privileged position. It\'s disgusting the way I\'m going through this dungeon, I imagined something more heroic."

The way you do it matters little to me, as long as you clear it. You have your own goals too, with those humans.

"You\'re right. Heroic or not, I\'ll get my revenge, this matters little."

Mori opened his [Dungeon window] and pressed [0-2].

Everything faded as he was transported to the floor he selected.

The same decor welcomed him as always.

He didn\'t dislike it; the simplicity made everything easier to enjoy.

He appeared at what looked like the end of a tunnel.

He slowly walked toward the room, slowing down as he approached the first room.

As he walked toward it, he could hear the monsters inside walking.

He couldn\'t tell how many, but they must\'ve been skeletons, he could recognize the way they \'clicked\' as they walked.

It was also too frequent to be only one.

He did his best to be quiet, slowly walking along the wall.

All he had was still a spear, the safest weapon in terms of reach. Multiple opponents would be rough, but at this level he could manage.

He finally was right by the entry of the room. He peeked inside silently and quickly, stepping back the moment after.

Mori massaged his forehead.

It was a single enemy, but this one was a dog made of bones.

If the last room is a dog pack, I don\'t know how I\'ll manage.

He took several more steps back, then sat against the wall of the passageway.

"What\'s even the correct strategy here?"

He tried mentally reviewing fights he had done in games involving a similar enemy.

"No point in overthinking it right now."

Mori got up and walked toward the room, tapping the ground with the spear, attracting its attention.

It quickly turned its head toward him and took a few steps back while tilting its head upward.

Is it trying to growl?

Mori\'s spear was pointed toward it. He took a few calculated steps while trying to get a feel for its speed.

The dog ran backward, then sideways, trying to go around Mori.

"Really?"

The dog ran forward, its limbs clicking on the floor as it rapidly closed ground on Mori.

A few steps from him, it jumped.

Mori, without any trouble, swung the spear sideways, turning the dog into a jigsaw puzzle.

The usual kindle dropped on the floor, with no item.

"Really? It\'s this easy?" Mori approached the kindle, touching the small flame.

The door at the end of the room opened.

He walked toward it, while contemplating his profile.

"Was it really only hard because of my low level?"

Mori finally understood what Aleesia meant by \'The curve isn\'t steep.\'

Even he should manage swift progression at this rate.

He walked for a short moment, reaching the next room which had a dog and a short skeleton.

He chuckled. "It\'s basically the same thing as [0-1]."

Mori smiled as he entered the room directly, tapping his spear on the ground.
