Chapter 96: Decaying Mole

"If I had known that it was such a troublesome matter, I would have never taken this mission," muttered Levy.

"You are not the only one filled with regrets," said Wistoria, bloodthirst oozing from every single pore of her body as she muttered, "If I had recognised that man that day, I would have skinned and his people alive."

"I don\'t think you could have taken them all on your own," Damien heard Xavier say. "Not to mention you are not allowed at the Kiem family\'s territory. If you were caught lurking there, who knows how they would have turned the situation around for their own benefit?"

"So you want us to catch these people and even get rid of that music box?" Damien asked with a frown as he got to his feet and let out a loud belch.

Wistoria gave him a look of pure disdain as she said to him, "No. Our priority is to stop them from causing mayhem. You have no idea about the terrors that Azazel had caused when he was at the peak of his power. Because of that, even now beastmen feel terrified at the mere mention of that man\'s name."

"If the information about Doomsday gets spread among them, who knows what kind of trouble may arise?"

Also –

Wistoria hadn\'t forgotten how there were many supporters of Azazel waiting for his return.

Many believed that Azazel\'s means and beliefs were correct and proper. That only he deserved to be the ruler of their nation, even when the man had been nothing but cruel to many, the hysteria of pure blood was so deeply embedded in the hearts of the beastmen that they could not see reason.

Wistoria feared that if the cursed music box that was created by Azazel was to make an appearance, these people would stir once again.

She glanced at the three men before saying, "We are going to spread out and look for them." As she spoke, she handed each of them a small ruby-red orb. "Here, take this; if something happens, then you need to inject your mana."She paused and looked at Damien before saying to Xavier, "You follow him."

Damien had no mana. If he got caught in any trouble, then it would be nearly impossible for them to protect him. She would have followed him herself, but Damien would only drag her down.

As Wistoria was worried about Andres and his guildmates, she had no time to take care of Damien.

"Lady Wistoria," Xavier began but was stopped by Damien, who caught his wrist and smiled at Wistoria flatteringly. He said to her, "Thank you very much."

Xavier turned and glanced at the man with a frown on his face. Why was he keeping the fact that he had recovered his mana a secret from Lady Wistoria?

"What is it?" Wistoria questioned when she heard Xavier\'s call.

Xavier continued to stare at Damien before turning to look at Wistoria. He shook his head and stated, "Nothing; I wanted to ask if I could follow you."

"Lord Damien needs you more than me," Wistoria reminded Xavier. She still didn\'t believe that Damien had enough strength to protect himself, even if he had the brains.

Xavier nodded.

However, once Wistoria walked away with Levy, he rounded on Damien and questioned him, "Why did you stop me just now, Lord Damien?" His voice held an accusatory note.

"Do you think telling everyone that the tartarite nails embedded in my head have been removed needs a big hoo-hah?" Damien questioned the man with a raised brow. "Keep it to yourself until I am strong enough to protect myself without your help."

The last thing he wanted was a bunch of beastmen coming after him.

Xavier didn\'t seem to agree with him. He parted his lips, ready to tell Damien off, but the latter did not give him a chance to do so.

"Do you think that someone is really trying to revive Aza–?"

"Do not invoke that name, Lord Damien. Especially not when we are trying to go against his forces," Xavier sternly said to him. "And to answer your question, I have no idea. But the signs are certainly pointing in that direction. If Lady Wistoria\'s guess is correct, then —"

"It is not good," Damien remarked.

Though he was not the one who suffered the humiliation, Damien wanted Emiliano to suffer. And Azazel too—what was he trying to do? He didn\'t mean anything by these words, but boy, if he was the one whose body was chopped into pieces with his limbs discarded in different parts, he would be too embarrassed to show his face again.

Like that was enough signs with flashing red glares that no one wanted him around.

But nope, it seemed like Azazel was one of those few men who always had a hard time understanding the signs of rejection.

He was still bidding his time while suffering the agony that he had caused to others, and yet he was still waiting for his revival.

All because he wanted to reign over the lands he had once ruled and was disposed of.

And if that was not bad enough, there was an idiot who was trying his best to help that transcendental.

Wistoria said that she was only guessing, but Damien was certain that her guess was more or less close to reality. Other than that bastard, Emiliano, who else would let a bunch of dark guild members sneak off the prison?

It had to be him. A psychopath who nailed his half-brother in the head — could there be anyone more crazy than him?

"Is this really going to work out?"
