Chapter 63: Loose Ends (2)

Chapter 63: Loose Ends (2)

Liu Kaiyan continued to stand still. He even raised his head, revealing a mocking smile, as if watching a farce.

Now, Liu Zhaoyang was truly infuriated. He no longer cared about his wife and went up to kick Liu Kaiyan in the knee.

Even though his knee slammed into the wall, Liu Kaiyan refused to kneel, propping himself up against the wall.

Due to his stubbornness, Liu Zhaoyang became even more angry.

Liu Zhaoyang took off his belt and walked towards Liu Kaiyan and began to hit him.

Now even the passersby who originally cursed Liu Kaiyan as a white-eyed wolf (T/N: cold-hearted/cruel/ungrateful person) could no longer sit still. They came forward to appease Liu Zhaoyang, saying that his child was still small and to just teach him slowly. A romantic relationship isn’t that big of a deal, it wasn’t worth breaking the child.

Liu Zhaoyang pushed away the crowd with a stiff face, flourishing his belt: “If you don’t beat them, they won’t remember.”

As he spoke, he began walking forward again with his belt.

However, this time, the belt was unable to hit Liu Kaiyan. As it lashed towards him, Liu Kaiyan reached out and blocked the belt.

Liu Kaiyan grabbed the tip of the belt and, with a sudden use of force, caught Liu Zhaoyang off-guard and pulled the belt out of his hand.

Liu Kaiyan vigorously threw the belt onto the ground.

This young man’s body was stretched like a javelin, with a mysteriously calm flavor.

He said: “Let’s break off our relationship.”

After he was done speaking, he ignored the shocked stares from Liu and Lin and turned his back towards them, using the wall to limp away.

“Son…”

Lin Xiuping’s heart softened as she stood up to shout for him to come back, but was interrupted by Liu Zhaoyang’s deep voice.

“If he wants to leave then he can get out. Let’s just pretend we never gave birth to a son.”

When Liu Kaiyan heard this, he sneered in his heart. How coincidental. He also wished he was never born by them.

He called a taxi back home to organize his things.

To be honest, there wasn’t much to organize. Aside from his pens and stationary, he basically didn’t bring anything else. He only brought a tiny luggage with him out the door.

Even though he had no money, even though he might have to sleep on the street tonight, even though he might not be able to eat, even though the road ahead was dark…

He was free. The moment he stepped out of that house, he felt as if the vine that had almost strangled him, the vine that had trapped him for all those years, was finally gone. The heart that had been suffocated for such a long time could pump again, breathing fresh oxygen.

He finally felt alive again.

After lunch, the students began to study again. Lunch break was lunch break and everything began to quiet down in the classroom.

At this time, the door was pushed open.

The students lifted their heads, only to be surprised.

In the past, Liu Kaiyan was like an old man that was ready to die. Only when he saw Su Tian did he have life flash in his eyes. But now, even though he had a huge palm print on his face and scratches on his back, even though there were footprints on his clothing…

His eyes were bright.

Su Tian also looked up.

He stood at the door of the classroom, holding a small bag, and even smiled at her.

Boss Liu had always had great looks, but he rarely smiled. When he did, it was small and never lasted long, only reaching the corners of his mouth, which sank quickly, as if being weighed down by a lead pendant.

But now, when he smiled, even though it was still light, it finally had the flavor the brightness of youth.

He took large steps into the classroom and quietly sat down in his seat.

He took out pen and paper, wrote a note, poked Su Tian in the back, and passed it to her.

Su Tian took the note and opened it. There were only three words. (T/N: the raws say four, but it’s only three in english yeet)

[I am free.]

Like the smile he had before, the brushstrokes looked like they wanted to fly up.

Su Tian smiled, only writing one word (T/N: was two in chinese) below his sentence, and passed back the note.

Liu Kaiyan opened the note:

[Congratulations.]

When class ended, Su Tian asked him if he needed any help from her.

Liu Kaiyan said no, he didn’t need any help, but if he needed it, he wouldn’t be polite and would ask her.

Seeing his determination, Su Tian didn’t mention this matter again.

After she left school, Su Tian’s mood was very good and laughed with Wang Haoxue on the way home.

Although Lin Xiuping and Liu Zhaoyang definitely wouldn’t give up, hadn’t Liu Kaiyan’s fate changed quite a bit? He didn’t break off ties after his college examinations and didn’t go alone to mingle with society. Instead, he came right back to class.

Things were improving little by little.

Even Wang Haoxue sighed endlessly, saying that he finally seemed like a real person.
