Chapter 212: Registration

William and the guard entered the Capital through the gate, which seemed to trigger a series of System Messages.

-Entered the Hillvire Empire: +10 PP

-Entered Hillvire Capital City: +10 PP

No Title for exploration I guess... William had entered at least ten different locations at this point, so the chances of triggering a new Title were pretty low by now. Maybe there was a specific requirement behind some Titles?

"Hey you, what\'s your name?" a guard wearing a red uniform walked up to William. This person seemed to have more authority than the others and his Cultivation was in the second stage of the Golden Core Realm, so William guessed it was a Captain.

"My name is Yuming." William answered, keeping his tone both respectful and decisive.

William wasn\'t a guard, so there was no reason for him to be overly polite. Not to mention, his Arrays simulated a Cultivation slightly lower than the Captain\'s, meaning he should act like an equal.

The guard Captain looked at William\'s cloak with a hint of interest, but the Mana fluctuations on the item suggested it was only rare and not overly powerful. Nothing worth fighting over.

"Yuming, right? You\'re the one without identification?"

"That\'s right. I\'ve never been here before, so I don\'t have any way to identify myself."

"You\'re not part of any Alchemy Hall, Array Hall, Blacksmithing Organization, or Guild?"

"...Nope." William actively tried to prevent his facial expressions from betraying him, causing his eye to twitch a little.

"I see..." the guard Captain said after a few seconds of deliberation. "You have two options then. Come with me and register yourself with the City Hall, or refuse and go to jail. Your choice."

William didn\'t have to think twice, choosing the first option instantaneously. The Captain led him through the Capital streets, where William could see many Cultivators flying at low altitude.

Occasionally, there would be a civilian or two riding on modified bicycles with four wheels instead of two with baskets in the rear for carrying items, or luxurious carriages pulled by sheep-like Magical Beasts.

So there are bikes in this World? William looked at the civilians with interest.

"Since you\'re not from around here, I\'ll tell you the rules of our City. Or I would, if I didn\'t have this!" he animatedly pulled a small leatherbound book from his Space Ring and handed it to William, who groaned in disgust.

Another book? Sigh...

William opened the book and started reading the rules. He knew himself better than anyone else, so not reading the rules would probably lead to a series of events that resulted in the death of many City guards, and William didn\'t feel like killing anyone today.

No flying above fifty meters in the air, that\'s not an issue. I can\'t fly without Magic yet anyway.

William flipped through the pages, finding many of the rules to be simple in nature, and mostly common sense. Don\'t kill anyone? Got it. Don\'t steal or break things that aren\'t yours? Okay.

But what do you mean, I can\'t leave corpses of caught Magical Beasts outside of the Guild Hall? First off, why is that so specific, and second...why??

What William didn\'t know was that his act of leaving the Liffox corpse outside the Guild Hall in Thin Creek Village had sparked a few dissidents to do the same. Since there was no rule against it, anyone that didn\'t like a particular Guild Hall had started to leave their leftover corpses behind as a "gift".

This led to a series of disease outbreaks, which forced the City Halls across the Continent to add a new and very specific rule to their books.

William closed the book and handed it back to the guard Captain, who refused and said William could keep it.

William stored it in an empty Space Ring for the time being, but he planned to burn the book later.

He had no plans of accepting something from a stranger that could lead to his capture. While the guards didn\'t trust William, he didn\'t trust them either.

As they approached the City Hall, William became a bit worried. He had dripped his blood for the Guild previously, which could reveal his identity to the others.

System, can I do something about this?

-Request requires 15 Potential Points. Yes/No?

Confirm.

-You can change your blood type with the Blood Element. Just do it slowly or someone will notice.

William\'s eyes lit up. He didn\'t expect such an interesting way to use the Blood Element! William asked the System a few more questions on how to change his blood type, then prepared himself to do so immediately.

He discreetly changed his blood type from A positive to O negative little by little, pumping Blood Element Mana into his heart directly at a rate of one Mana every five seconds. He matched the Mana fluctuations to that of his Illusionist\'s Cloak, making it look like the cloak was just functioning at a slightly greater rate than before.

The guard Captain, who had only been with William for a few minutes, didn\'t notice a thing. He continued walking towards the City Hall with William in tow with not a clue that the man was changing his own blood type from only a few feet away.

William was only halfway done with the process when they stepped through the doors of the City Hall, but there was a small group of people waiting in line. He heaved a sigh of relief, thanking the City Hall for being just as slow as he remembered from his old World.

"Move aside, official business." the guard Captain ordered the group of people, stepping past the group of people in line to talk to the secretary at the front desk.

While the Captain spoke with the woman in front, William became nervous. He sped up the process of changing his blood type, causing a great deal of pain that made his face turn pale. He clenched his fist tightly while his old blood was modified twice as fast as before.

A few civilians noticed William\'s condition but didn\'t bother to say anything. They looked at William\'s clothing that had no symbol of a noble family or otherwise, turning their heads away in distaste. Commoners can die for all they care.

"Come on up, Yuming." the guard Captain motioned to William who had recovered from the brief moment of weakness. He walked slowly to the counter, stalling for time.

"Hurry up." one of the nobles in the Foundation Establishment Realm pushed at William from behind. William disabled his Forcefield and allowed the man to push him forward, stumbling into the front desk while trying to conceal a light smile.

Because of William\'s Attack Reflection Talent, the nobleman who pushed William was suddenly launched forward into someone else, who proceeded to smash the man\'s nose in with his fist.

The guard Captain didn\'t bother to say anything while the fight progressed and handed William a knife made of some sort of steel compound. He couldn\'t be bothered to deal with such a small matter. If the fight progressed, he\'d have one of his subordinates deal with it.

"Drop your blood onto that sheet of paper." he ordered.
