Chapter 350 - Lu Xuan’s Influence

Chapter 350: Lu Xuan’s Influence

Be it Guanglinzi, that old Taoist, or even Lu Zhengqing, nobody truly cared about the wellbeing of the common people.

At the time, they had deemed everyone in the village as being little more than insects that were beneath their notice.

Even so, everyone who thought themselves to be gods above everyone else remained utterly helpless and powerless when faced by Lu Xuan.

Anyone who wielded sufficient power would easily hold the fates of others in their hands.

Things were completely different from that romantic, peaceful world of cultivators they originally imagined.

The brutality and ruthlessness displayed among the cultivators made all that drama and power struggle in workplaces seem utterly insignificant.

Losers in the workplace would only lose their jobs at most, but losers in the world of cultivators could probably lose their lives.

It was a world that was completely alien to them.

Lu Xuan did not stay behind for the rest of the ceremony and instead brought Lu Guoguo back to Yunxuan Villa, leaving Lu Tianxiang behind as the center of attention.

He wondered just how many people would begin sucking up to his father.

Lu Tianxiang was someone whom the people of the Lu Clan saw to be rather wealthy, but that was all there was to it; he was hardly anything special to them. After all, there were quite a lot of businessmen who were even more successful than him.

However, everything changed when Lu Xuan made his move. Everyone was able to see that the current and coming era was, and would be, the golden age of the cultivators.

Cultivators would be the ones to rule the future world.

What Lu Xuan demonstrated shocked them to the core. They thought that if they were to be able to deepen the connections with Lu Xuan’s family, the Lu Clan would no longer be a small loose clan as it currently was. The clan might probably become those told in legends.

Lu Tianxiang was able to clearly see what was currently happening, as well as realize what was going on in the heads of his clansman. More importantly, he knew even more about his son’s intentions.

Technically, he owed his clan after they acquired scholarships so he could go to college. However, that was not the case with his son.

He believed it was ridiculous for those people to think of trying to rally Lu Xuan to the side of the clan and work for the clan’s interests.

There was just no way his son would have done that.

Few people in the current era valued the concept of clans in the first place. Most people had little thoughts and reverence for their supposed clans.

Nonetheless, it was still deemed reasonable for clansmen to look after one another as long as it was within reason.

Then again, Lu Xuan didn’t care about any of that at all.

Half a month later, several heads were literally delivered to the Yunxuan Villa.

Those heads nonetheless belonged to Lu Zhengqing and his master, as well as Guanglinzi and some others. Other than that, several heads belonged to Celestial Realm cultivators along with some that even belonged to those at the Airborne Realm.

They were all renowned figures of the overseas rite of the Maoshan Sect.

Lu Xuan naturally was able to learn through the Heavenly Palace’s intelligence network that what the Maoshan Sect did for the past half a month shook the entire world of cultivators.

The entire Maoshan Sect was furious after Sha Tongshen took the captives, including Guanglinzi, back to the Maoshan Sect.

They thought that they would have been made a laughing stock if word got out.

Witchcraft such as Gu and Tame Head curses had originated from Huaxia. Simply put, the people who practiced those arts lost in the war of orthodoxy; they were thus exiled by the Buddhists, the Taoists, and some other groups all those years ago.

People who practiced such arts were still found in the southwestern regions of the country.

The Maoshan Sect, on the other hand, was among the most glorious of the victors in the war.

Even so, those of the overseas rite of the Maoshan Sect instead chose to pick up Tame Head, which was deemed to be the art of losers. The entire Maoshan Sect would be made a laughing stock if word got out.

They had been thumbing their noses at the other Taoist sects in the past after having claimed to be of the purest of Shangqing lineage. What had just happened, however, would have dragged their faces through the mud.

The entire sect seemed to have mobilized right after the day Sha Tongshen returned, making their way to Southeast Asia and attacked the overseas rite’s lair. They killed three Airborne Realm cultivators as well as over 20 from the Celestial Realm.

The entire overseas rite of the Maoshan Sect was overturned for thorough investigations, and all who practiced Tame Head were killed without exception.

Only those who kept true to their Taoist traditions in overseas rite were spared.

The Maoshan Sect could be said to have been brutal in the operation. They were doing so to both maintain their faces as inheritors of the Shangqing heritage, as well as to answer to Lu Xuan.

The local rite of the Maoshan Sect mobilized there all that time to demonstrate just how truly capable a sect of ancient heritage truly was.

They went to practically exterminate the entire overseas rite of their sect in that blitzkrieg of an operation.

The powers demonstrated by both the local and overseas rites of the Maoshan Sect shocked the entire world of cultivators. While both sides clashed, over ten Airborne Realm cultivators were seen fighting on some island in Indonesia.

The resulting battle was so intense that they caused the volcano on that island to erupt.

The idea of cultivators fighting with enough intensity to cause natural disasters was something that doubtlessly exceeded everyone’s expectations.

Nobody had imagined that battles between cultivators could literally shake the world around them.

People from all over the world gained new perspectives regarding the power of cultivators.

The impression of cultivators being walking menaces was also deepened in the minds of many.

The Maoshan Sect had also suffered losses in that battle, with two of their Airborne Realm members being severely injured. One of them, who was of advanced age, actually passed away not long after they returned.

However, that wasn’t to say that they gained nothing in the operation. The sect was able to finally regain control of the several factions of the overseas rite, which all previously had their own agendas.

This was no doubt a major discovery.

Lu Xuan learned all of that through the intelligence network of the Heavenly Palace.

Many people somehow also learned the role that Lu Xuan played in the whole commotion.

Everything from members of the overseas rite of the sect trying to make the ancestral grave of Lu Xuan’s clan into a place for keeping undead, to ticking off Lu Xuan and finally, to forcing the sect’s hand enough to go out and eliminate their overseas rite, quickly spread like wildfire.

Many were shocked to learn how much influence Lu Xuan possessed.

The Maoshan Sect was of the true lineage of the Shangqing, and the sect had great influence among the cultivators of Huaxia. Despite this, such a massive and renowned sect was forced to make a move against their overseas rite, all because Lu Xuan told them to do so.

In the process, four Airborne Realm cultivators from both rites of the sect met their demise.

The Airborne Realm cultivators were known to be the best among the best throughout the world, with every single one of them lauded to be at the very cutting edge of cultivation. The death of every single one of them was enough to cause a huge commotion.

Having four of such beings dead was definitely more than enough to shake the world.

All of this had happened because of something Lu Xuan said.

Everyone was compelled to view his influence in a new light.

The Maoshan Sect went that far just to avoid getting on Lu Xuan’s bad side.

However, many had to admit that the entirety of the Maoshan Sect would have been razed if Lu Xuan himself made a move. The entire fighting force both rites could muster probably would not have stood a chance against him alone.

It was definitely better for the sect to clean up their own traitors than to have Lu Xuan raze the entire sect.

After all, they were able to at least keep one-third of their original powers alive. Thus, the integrity of the sect as a whole could be maintained.

There was yet another matter that shook the entire world when the cultivators were still reeling from the fearsome extent of Lu Xuan’s influence.
