Chapter 2060: Mo Yi’s Identity

Jiang Chen’s brows were tightly furrowed and a grave expression hung on his ashen face. Numerous Great Formations of Corpse Refinement gathered around him and endless zombies poured forth, as if they were his personal strength.

Hell’s ability to bury the corpses of the living was a contribution from Jiang Chen. What he wielded himself was infinitely stronger than was present in the Abyssal Hell.

Lu Yun drew in a sharp breath to see hordes of zombies amble around Jiang Chen. The zombie’s strength was many times stronger than Unrest! In fact, any of his zombies could beat Unrest to death!

The overseer stood in the void, bathed in a ball of fire. His long black hair began burning as well, turning the color of flames.

“Keep yourself safe. The overseer is born of the first flame of dao that came to be after the appearance of existence. He controls all fires that exist,” Jiang Chen cautioned with utmost gravity.

Lu Yun nodded mutely, despite not sensing any killing intent from the overseer.

“Give it up,” the overseer sighed in a melancholy fashion.

“Give it up?” Lu Yun knew that the words were meant for him. He shook his head lightly. “Success is within reach, why should I give up?”

“Because someone will die if you succeed,” the overseer replied.

“You?” Lu Yun snorted with laughter. Diexi watched the overseer warily while standing by the young man’s side. Her hand was on the empyrean crystal coffin and she communicated with Forebear’s strength inside.

“I won’t die,” the overseer shook his head. “I won’t die even if this existence collapses. I am the undisputed strongest within and without existence. There is nothing within creation that can kill me.”

He lifted his chin, displaying a slightly wan face. He’d plainly suffered uncountable injuries in the past.

“He’s bluffing,” Diexi grumbled.

He glanced at her. “You are well aware of my condition. Who can possibly harm me if I wasn’t preoccupied with suppressing the growth of the great daos of the Three Thousand? You and Ancestor? You two didn’t even measure up to one of my arms in your prime.”

Diexi fell silent. She didn’t know that. She was Diexi, not Forebear.

Lu Yun frowned slightly and looked at Jiang Chen. The Karmic Tree still wasn’t sensing any killing intent, just an… inexplicable emotion toward the young man.

Meanwhile, Jiang Chen kept a wary eye on the overseer. “One person dying compared to all of the living beings within and without nothing and creation. Which would you say is the right decision?” he sneered. “How else would Che agree to do this?”

“Che… the Dao King?” A sudden thought struck Lu Yun. Mo Yi.

Did this have to do with Mo Yi? Was she the person who would die?

An odd feeling developed in Lu Yun’s heart as he looked at the face that was the exact same as the Dao King’s.

“How do you know for certain that Che has agreed to it?” the overseer responded frostily. Killing intent flared in his eyes when he looked at Jiang Chen. “Do you want her to die?” He suddenly switched to Lu Yun.

“You mean Mo Yi, don’t you?” Lu Yun took a deep breath and slowly voiced the name. “Who is she?”

“Who is she?” chuckled the overseer. “Why do you think creation exists in this part of existence? She created it.” He spread out his arms with a smile. “She hewed the nothing into being and bestowed a trace of life into the empty nihil. She bequeathed it inception and manifested ethos. It is she who fashioned everything of creation.

“What is the nihil? Vacant and desolate, there is nothing there. For everything in existence, it is virulent poison. Anything that dares enter is assimilated. Without her, all of you would be long dead.”

Lu Yun gaped at the overseer with shock, not knowing what to say.

“Then who is Mo Yi? Isn’t she existence within nothing?

“Why, why, yes she is. She is born of the nothing and granted a true spirit from the nothing. Her tracks form the river of time and her gaze marks the true nihil.

“Her voice interweaves in the void and transforms the rules of disorder into organized order.” The overseer’s voice rang with conviction, but he grew paler the more he spoke.

“Then why are you suppressing the world that she’s created?” Lu Yun understood the ins and outs of everything now—it seemed likely that even the Tome of Life and Death was from Mo Yi’s hands.

Although the nothing was eternal, it wasn’t unchanging. It also underwent reincarnation, and from its cycles was born Mo Yi.

“If the great daos of the Three Thousand continue to grow without end, they will seep into the nothing and assimilate it. They will turn the nothing into existence. The mistress is the spirit of nothing. When that happens, she will vanish,” the overseer murmured. “I don’t want her to disappear, so I stop this with everything I have.”

That was why he suppressed the great daos of the Three Thousand and prevented them from developing, forcing them to eternally remain in the state of ethos.

Meanwhile, having lost the memories of her past life, Mo Yi didn’t even know who she was. That was because the great daos of the Three Thousand had invaded the nothing and the three hundred and sixty-five nihil powerhouses supported the realm.

The greater the damage to the nothing, the more severe the injuries to Mo Yi.

She’d left her strength in the nothing to balance the scales between nothing and existence. She created the power of nihil so that beings of existence could exceed their plane and enter the nothing.

But living beings were of existence, after all, so although they could enter the nihil, they needed additional strength to support their actions. Thus, they wished to turn all of nothing into existence.

That was when the overseer made his move and expelled all of the creatures in the Three Thousand who’d reached the nihil cultivation level, using his own body to suppress its great daos.

The rest of the circumstances was a well known story.

“The nothing was always meant to eventually transform into existence,” Jiang Chen responded coolly. “You can suppress the Three Thousand, but you are unable to suppress a third existence.”

A first existence had once appeared—the Tome of Life and Death. It’d been refined into a treasure as it developed and later thrown into the river of time.

The Dao King had been behind that.

On the other hand, Ancestor’s body had manifested a realm that would eventually become a third existence in the nothing.

“Is there no way for an outcome of mutual satisfaction?” Lu Yun frowned.

“All living beings have their own desires and no one is content to always remain in the same place,” the overseer shook his head. “Even you are the same. Would you be willing to stay in a world with a great dao that never advances and always remains stagnant?

“Just for the sake of one person?”
